The district magistrate of West Burdwan, S Ponnambalam has released the final voters list of the district, which is about 23,18,699, spread over nine Assembly segments in the district.

The summary revision of the final voter list of 2025 was started in November 2024 and was released after an all party meeting in West Burdwan district.

The increase in voters is 4,735, which includes 22,701 new voters’ names included in the list and voters names of 17,966 people have been deleted.

The new voters will be receiving their first EPIC cards very soon through post. The numbers of women voters are far more compared to male voters in the age group of 20-39 years, as per the new voters list.

In the new voters list, there are 97 persons whose ages are over 100 years. Recently, the oldest voter of West Burdwan district passed away in Durgapur. But the maximum number of voters are in the age category of 40-59 years.

In 2024, the total number of voters of West Burdwan district was 23,03,475 .

The total number of male voters are 11,78,703, while women voters are 11,39,953.

In Asansol North Assembly segment, the highest number of voters are registered, 2,87,995, while Pandaveswar Assembly segment has registered the lowest number of voters, 2,15,507 voters.

There are nine Assembly segments in West Burdwan district, Asansol South, Asansol North, Barabanai, Kulti, Jamuria, Pandaveswar, Raniganj, Durgapur East and Durgapur West. Out of these nine, seven are under Asansol Lok Sabha constituency, while two others – Durgapur East and Durgapur West are under Burdwan – Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.

The next major election will be held in 2026, the state Assembly polls, before that there will be another revised voters list to be published in January 2026.

The population of West Burdwan district is 32,31,906. The district administration will observe the National Voters Day on 25 January, in which the new voters will be felicitated in a programme at the district headquarters of West Burdwan in Asansol.

All the major political parties have stressed on deletion of names of bogus voters. Before the release of the final voters list, representatives of all the major political parties were called in and the final list was discussed and given a nod.
